Forest operation

BosexploitatieBosontginningBoomstammen Do you have any poplars for sale that are ready for cutting?

Thanks to our many years of experience and extensive number of clients, we can offer you a good price.

We manage all our operations with the utmost care. In most cases, we use a specially equipped caterpillar crane to protect the forest’s soil from damage as much as possible. For larger distances, we do this in combination with an agricultural tractor.

Bomen vellen

As we cut, we spare as many future trees as possible, and we lay all branch wood in piles immediately, so as not to hinder the natural rejuvenation of the forest. Afterwards, we remove the piles of crown wood, to be used as a sustainable energy source.

Why the poplar?

Populier hout

The poplar is a fast growing tree and a champion in the storage of CO2. It is an ideal tree for local wood production and a good choice for people who want to plant trees and combine wood yield with environmental care.

Poplar plantations require little maintenance in comparison with plantations with other trees, such as the young oak. Those plantations first require five years of intensive mowing to protect the young trees from weeds and other proliferating plants, followed by continuous thinning afterwards. Young poplars immediately grow two metres tall, do not suffer from weeds and need no thinning.

Within 20 to 25 years after planting the young poplars, they are ready for harvesting and replantation.

In this way, over a period of 80 years, you can easily harvest and replant your forest up to 3 times, harvesting quite some wood and generating profits. Oak trees, on the other hand, are still not ready for harvest after 80 years.

Poplars grow on almost any soil.

Local wood production

Hout productie

Local wood production will gain more and more importance. It is crucial for our environment and our well-being that we protect the rain forests and we stop illegal woodcutting.

Ancient forests and trees are almost irreplaceable, because they grow slowly. Moreover, the sea transport causes a lot of CO2 emissions that could have been avoided.

Because of its fast growth, the poplar is an ideal future tree.
Universities are working successfully on various technologies to use this soft wood as a replacement for the much more expensive hard woods.

Investing in poplars is investing in the future and in our environment.
